Never Let a Crisis Go To Waste

A crisis is a time of pain, suffering, difficulty, challenges. No one wants to be involved in a crisis situation, whether it is a financial crisis like the Great Depression, an immigration crisis like the one the Biden administration has caused in 2021, or a health crisis like the Covid-19 pandemic. However, there is also good that can come from crisis – it can rally a divided people to stand united, it can motivate the formerly unmotivated to pursue necessary change, or, if one has slightly less of a moral backbone, it can be exploited to persuade people to do what they normally would never even consider. Former Obama chief of staff and mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, said in 2008, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. I mean, it’s an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.” Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, and the socialist activist community are going by the Rahm Emanuel playbook, exploiting the Covid-19 pandemic, mass shooting incidents, and tumult of the Trump presidency to grow the size and scope of government, restrict individual liberty, and permanently institute one-party rule.

Did you think the American people would ever allow a government to declare martial law or put the nation’s capital under military occupation? The National Guard has been stationed in Washington D.C. since January, and despite the expectation of their exit in March, they will now be there until at least May. Why are Americans allowing this? Liberal lies and never letting a “serious crisis go to waste.” On January 6th, a bunch a yahoos stormed the capitol building. People were injured, some unfortunately were killed. It was a horrible event orchestrated by some seriously troubled people. The entire incident was blamed on President Trump, and his MAGA supporters became labeled enemies of American democracy. Joe Biden called them domestic terrorists, claiming that they were the greatest threat to our country. Nancy Pelosi and AOC extended the label to members of the Republican caucus in Congress. The liberal media and the corrupt establishment portrayed this event as part of a greater crisis, with further threats requiring emergency powers. The further threats never materialized (surprise, surprise). As a result of the “threats,” however, Nancy Pelosi and the Biden administration have been able to exploit the fears of the American people and establish military occupation of our capital, restricting the access of the people to “the people’s house.” They have been able to frame their political opposition as enemies of the state and have them declared a threat by the FBI. What is to stop the democrats from using perceived threats from establishing more militarized zones and restricting your rights of movement, speech, and assembly, and taking your guns away in the future?

Is it a surprise when a mass murder occurs, or a school shooting happens, that the democrats and anti-second amendment activists exploit the pain and suffering of those left behind to promote the end of our constitutional right to bear arms? It happens every time, so it shouldn’t be. A lone psychopath chooses to break not only our laws, but God’s law, and uses a gun to take lives. The media, democrat leaders, and gun control advocates relentlessly promote the event as a reason we need to take away guns from law-abiding citizens. What will that do to take guns away from criminals? They are criminals because they don’t obey the law! What happens when a gun is used to save lives? How much time and attention are paid to those events? Democrats and their liberal socialist allies exploit tragedy, manipulate painful events, and deploy resources to exacerbate the pain of those suffering, all for political gain. President Biden is issuing gun control executive orders to deal with what he called a “public health crisis.” They are relentless and will never stop exploiting the “crisis” of mass shootings to achieve their political ends – the abolition of all guns. Guns used for the wrong purposes are undoubtedly a threat to societal safety, but used for the right purposes they are integral to the preservation of individual safety and maintaining order. According to The Federalist, Norway has ten times the gun ownership rate as the United Kingdom with half the murder rate. El Salvador, with strict gun laws, has one of the highest murder rates in the world. Switzerland, among the nations with the highest per capita gun ownership, has a murder rate next to zero, and hasn’t had a mass shooting since 2001. Maybe it’s true that guns don’t kill people; people kill people.

It should be noted that liberals want to defund the police and make it illegal for Americans to bear arms. What happens when the people can no longer defend themselves? Firearm restrictions are a tool of tyrannical regimes to limit opposition, coerce compliance, and eliminate dissidence. The Soviet Union and the Eastern bloc countries of Europe, Nazi Germany, Castro’s Cuba, Chavez’ Venezuela, and North Korea all restricted gun ownership and confiscated weapons. Each of these regimes is responsible for murdering thousands or millions of dissidents who had no method of self-defense. During Hitler’s reign, Jews in German territory were not allowed to own guns… 6 million of them died in the holocaust, sent off to concentration camps with little resistance. Over 50 million unarmed citizens, belonging to the wrong race, class, or faction, were executed in the Soviet Union. Stalin, during the Great Purge of 1936-1938 alone, executed upwards of 750,000 dissidents, with millions more sent to gulags (forced labor camps). Other socialist leaders also purged thousands of powerless citizens who were perceived as opposition. With non-woke voices being silenced, the assembly of certain groups being monitored and restricted, and our individual liberty under relentless assault, is it that far-fetched that a tyrannical liberal socialist government could come to dominate and further punish an unarmed populace?

Tyranny does not only involve control by restriction of rights, but also by perpetuation of dependence. The introduction of trillions of dollars of government spending is meant not as a hand up during the pandemic, but rather a handout, and it is strategic. Biden pollster and advisor, Celinda Lake, says that people believing government is the solution is here to stay for a while... But the other question for progressives and Democrats is how we solidify this as a permanent view of what the role of government is rather than just [intervening] during a crisis.” They want to use this crisis to establish an even larger, more encompassing, and permanent welfare state. The Biden administration believes they can use the pandemic to shift public support away from individual liberty and self-reliance toward government control and dependence, resulting in a population believing they are reliant on the Democrat party for survival. More handouts equal more votes. More votes equal more power. The more the Democrats give away, and the more they make the people believe the government is the solution to our problems, the less the people will rely on themselves and the more dependent they will become on government. For democrats, dependence equals power. From crisis grows power.

Those who are dependent have less hope, and hope is the great emancipator of the masses. People of the nation beware, as Ben Franklin said, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." We have already given up the freedom to visit our capital and have accepted new limitations placed on our right to free assembly… what’s next? How about our economic well-being? Someone has to pay for the liberal spending spree, and that someone is us. We will pay through massive tax increases, cuts in services, higher prices for consumer goods… the president may claim that no one earning under $400,000 a year will see a tax increase, but what about the higher cost of gas we are now paying at the pump due to his energy policy? It might not be a direct tax, but the people, including the middle class and poor, are paying more for gas today than we were under Trump. It’s no different than a direct tax on our income – we have less disposable income with which to live. If we listen to the liberals, and support their agenda, then we better be prepared for more “non-tax” increases in our cost of living, less disposable income, and more economic struggles ahead.

We are Americans, and from our founding in 1776, we have been a people who have cherished our individual liberty and an immense amount of personal freedom, relished our limited government of the people, by the people, and for the people, and prided ourselves in traditional American self-reliance. The liberal socialist counterrevolution has launched an all-out offensive against all that is American, trying to use perceived crises as an excuse to take and use more of our money, restrict our rights, and take our guns. Our rights and liberties are at stake. Let us remember what founding father John Adams once warned, “Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it.” We cannot allow the false cries of crisis dissuade us from fighting against any government encroachment on our constitutional freedoms. Our government cannot spend money irresponsibly unless we refuse to speak out; it cannot tax us without mercy unless we accept it; it cannot take our guns unless we allow it. We, the people, control our destiny – the government belongs to us, we do not belong to the government. We have a responsibility to future generations to ensure the continued existence of the great American republic, as it was in 1776, as it has been, and how it always should be – a land of limited government, individual liberty, and unlimited opportunity.

Keep the American dream alive!
